Rep. Bennie Thompson endorses David Baria while he cast aspersions on Democratic Senate candidate Howard Sherman in a radio ad.
In the radio spot (below), Thompson calls Howard Sherman a “closet Republican” and criticizes his financial donations to AG Jeff Sessions and current Republican US Senator from Mississippi Roger Wicker.
Tuesday will be a test to see if the Democratic establishment still runs the party in Mississippi or not.
Rep. Omeria Scott endorsed Howard Sherman days after the primary. Together, they earned 56% of the primary vote.
With about 94,000 votes in the primary, one would reasonably expect voter turnout to be WAY down in a statewide Democratic runoff between Baria and Sherman.
It’s conceivable that the first candidate to 25,000 votes could win this statewide runoff for a Democratic US Senate nomination, as shocking as that sounds.
