BOBBY HARRISON: Legislative process not like private sector
Take, for instance, the upcoming special session that will be called before July 1 for legislators to finish their budget work. It is easy to say that legislators had a 90-day regular session to complete what is arguably their most important task each session – funding state government.
Legislators didn’t get that done. They dropped the ball.
In the real world, we all have tasks to perform and deadlines to meet. If we are not successful, there are consequences, including the possibility of losing a job.
But the legislative process is not like the private sector. In the private sector there is a boss – a person who has the final say. In the private sector, we essentially have two choices at the end – do what the boss says or find another job.
