CLARION LEDGER: Gipson acted illogically on domestic violence, divorce

On Tuesday, Gipson reinforced those archaic beliefs, hiding behind what he views as the sanctity of marriage while essentially handing down a life sentence — or worse — to victims of spousal domestic abuse in Mississippi.

Gipson said making domestic violence as part of the grounds for divorce would be “opening the floodgates” for even more divorces.

“We need to find ways to strengthen marriages, not further ways to erode them,” Gipson said….

…Not only are we outraged, disappointed and ashamed; we are heartbroken for Mississippi and her people. The victims of abuse deserve better.
