Mississippians head to D.C. for #Inauguration2017

Mississippians excited about inauguration

The 200-member marching band from Tupelo High School even stopped by to meet and take pictures with Republican Sen. Roger Wicker. The band will be the only one from Mississippi to participate in the inaugural parade.
“What a thrill that was,” said Wicker after greeting the students on the steps of a Senate office building. “They were so enthusiastic … I just wanted to stress to them what a profound moment this is for our county to demonstrate the orderly transfer of power and to show the rest of the world how we abide by the results of the election.”
Wicker said he was looking forward to seeing plenty of Mississippians at Friday’s ceremonies. His father, retired judge Fred Wicker, was also in town for what would be his first inauguration.
