Coast lawmaker coauthors Mississippi Death with Dignity Act
JACKSON, MS (WLOX) – A South Mississippi lawmaker wants to let people with terminal illnesses decide when they can die. State Sen. Debbie Dawkins is sponsoring Senate Bill 2283, The Mississippi Death with Dignity Act.
If passed, it would allow terminally ill adults in our state to voluntarily end their lives with lethal medications prescribed by a physician. The bill would also set guidelines for requesting the drugs, the responsibilities of doctors receiving the request, and safeguards to make sure the patient makes an informed decision.
