Mississippi seeks groups for pre-K expansion
Mississippi’s state-funded effort hasn’t expanded until now beyond the initial groups serving 1,700 students statewide for lack of funding.
The Mississippi Department of Education is accepting applications until Sept. 26. Officials say they will choose new grant recipients based on ability to provide services, showing improved kindergarten preparation, needs of local children and other factors.
An information meeting will be held Sept. 6 in Jackson. The state will notify winners Nov. 10.
