Hood talks mental health, cyber crime

Hood said his office has to pick its battles.

“It’s fun to fight the federal government, but I have to look at the law and see what the courts have done on issues,” Hood said.

Hood also said his office is working with small business owners on data breaches and putting together a manual on how to deal with the issue.

“We find most of the problems we find are human error,” Hood said. “It’s just one of the things we do to help people.”

Hood was elected attorney general in 2004. Before that, he served as a law clerk at the Mississippi Supreme Court and as a special assistant attorney general. In 1995, he was elected district attorney for seven counties in north Mississippi.
