Kelly wraps up his first year in Congress
Thompson, the dean of Mississippi’s House delegation, welcomes the gesture. It’s the only regular meeting he has with a Republican in his delegation.
“He’s the one who reached out,’’ Trey Baker, a spokesman for Thompson, said of Kelly….
…Rep. Gregg Harper, his 3rd District Republican colleague, called Kelly a “natural-born leader.’’
“He’s doing very well,’’Harper said. “He thinks for himself.’’
Not all Mississippians agree. Rickey Cole, chairman of the Mississippi Democratic Party, called Kelly, who supports Republican Donald Trump for president, a “loyal back-bench foot soldier for Donald Trump’s Say Anything, Do Nothing Republican Party.”
