MS House bill would increase Medicaid identity verification

By: Magnolia Tribune - February 29, 2016

House Passes Bill Increasing ID Requirements for Medicaid

The Mississippi House has passed a bill that would increase the amount of personal income and identify details Medicaid recipients must report before getting the health coverage. Legislators voted 76-40 to pass the bill without reading or discussing it.

House Bill 1116 would require state officials to build a computerized system to keep records of Medicaid recipients. Officials would hire a third-party company to develop the system. Medicaid recipients would have to prove their identity matches the computer records every three months.
