@MSGOP: 30 House Democrats vote against anti-terror “See Something, Say Something Act”

Release from the Mississippi Republican Party:

30 Democrats Vote Against Anti-Terror Bill

On September 11, 2001, our world changed forever. Thousands of our people were killed and since then thousands more have died in order to protect our freedoms and our way of life. Since the recent terrorist attacks in San Bernardino, California, we now realize clearly that all of us need to be vigilant and watchful – not just those who live in big cities like New York or Washington, DC.

Earlier this week, the Mississippi House of Representatives passed House Bill 578, the Mississippi “See Something, Say Something Act of 2016.” This law will help prevent criminal or civil penalties from being imposed on individuals for reporting potential terror threats or activity in Mississippi.

The legislation is based on laws in other states, and it uses a definition of terrorism that comes from federal law. Even President Obama has not opposed these efforts.

Amazingly, thirty Democrat House members voted against the bill, some mocking Republicans for even thinking that a terrorist attack could occur in our state.

We often point out that in Mississippi today, you can either be a Democrat or a conservative, but you can’t be both anymore. In fact, the two choices for president the Democrats have put forth are a life-long liberal or self-avowed socialist.

After votes like this, it is clear that the Mississippi Democrat Party is not as liberal as the national party – Mississippi Democrats are EVEN MORE liberal and to the left of their national party and President Obama.
