Presidential hopefuls collect $816,198 from Mississippi
Carson was among Mississippians who donated a combined $816,198 last year to presidential hopefuls. Republican candidates accounted for $669,095, and Democrats received $147,102, according to Federal Election Commission reports.
Former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush, running for the GOP nomination, topped the list of recipients with $194,460, followed by Republican Ben Carson, a retired neurosurgeon, with $142,522 and Clinton with $109,813.
Clinton’s rival for the Democratic nomination, independent Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont, collected $24,389 from Mississippians last year.
