Governor Phil Bryant Announces Reappointment of Corley as Banking Commissioner
Jackson, Miss. (Dec. 17, 2015) — Gov. Phil Bryant announced today that he has reappointed Charlotte Corley as Banking Commissioner.
As Banking Commissioner, Corley is responsible for oversight of financial institutions chartered under state authority and will ensure that those institutions comply with Mississippi’s banking laws and regulations.
Governor Bryant first appointed Corley to the post in November 2014. “I am pleased that Charlotte has accepted this reappointment,” Gov. Bryant said. “She has proven herself an effective leader of the Department of Banking and Consumer Finance and has operated the agency with efficiency and integrity. I look forward to continuing to work with her as she and her staff ensure our banking institutions remain in compliance with state law.”
Corley has 30 years with the Mississippi Department of Banking and Consumer Finance. After joining the Department in 1985 as a bank examiner, she worked her way through the ranks to become Banking Division Director in 2000, then Deputy Commissioner in 2013.
A native Mississippian, Corley earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Banking and Finance from Mississippi State University. She is a graduate of the School of Banking of the South at Louisiana State University and a graduate of the American Bankers Association National Graduate Trust School at Northwestern University. Additionally, Corley is a Certified Public Manager, Certified Examinations Manager, Certified Trust Examiner, and a Certified State Credit Union Examiner.
Corley is a current Board member of the Conference of State Bank Supervisors, the nation’s leading advocate for the state banking system and the only national organization dedicated to advancing the state banking system. She also serves CSBS as a member of the Interagency Supervisory Processes Committee, coordinating the regulatory processes of federal and state banking regulatory agencies. She is a longstanding member of the CSBS State Supervisory Processes Committee and the CSBS Technology Committee, coordinating activities, developing positions, and making recommendations to the Board regarding supervisory matters.
She is a former Chair of the CSBS Education Foundation. The CSBS EF sponsors professional training programs specially designed for state banking department examiners and senior staff. In addition, Corley formerly served on the Federal Financial Institutions Examination Council’s Task Force on Examiner Education.

Corley is married to Aubrey Corley, They are parents to Christopher, Patrick and Catherine, all graduates of Mississippi State. Corley is passionate about Mississippi State sports. In her leisure time, she enjoys her two dogs, Buck and Tommie, and believes every dog should have a home – and every home should have a dog. She is a member of and actively involved in Pinelake Church.
