GOP hopeful Kasich stumps at Mississippi College
Kasich spoke to the College Republicans on Wednesday in the piazza on the Mississippi College campus. Asked what separates him from the other presidential candidates, Kasich answered simply: his experience.
“The reason I’m running for president is because I have too much experience and too many blessings to not do it,” Kasich said.
Supporters of Kasich, including Harper, former U.S. Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott, state Rep. Toby Barker and former state Republican Party chief Andy Taggart, agree, citing Kasich’s instrumental leadership in balancing the federal budget in the late ’90s. Harper called Kasich the “chief architect” of that budget plan.
