JCJC President under fire for email opposing Initiative 42
According to a statement from Stacey Pickering’s office, it’s against the law for education officials to use public resources “to advocate for or against” Initiative 42. They can only “educate their constituents” on the matter.
Smith said he had no knowledge of that rule, but after being told of his error he will follow suit. However, he feels it’s his opinion of Initiative 42 that is the reason he is coming under fire.
“If I were for this initiative, this wouldn’t be an issue. It’s because I’m against the initiative is why that is an issue,” President Smith said.
