Transportation Commissioners tout port grants

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 13, 2015

Mississippi ports getting $3.8 million for upgrades

A dozen ports made grant requests totaling more than $8 million for the Mississippi Department of Transportation’s multi-modal grant program. The agency had allocated $3.8 million for the fiscal year.

“Mississippi’s ports and waterways system helps move local goods and services to the rest of the country, and even internationally,” read a joint statement from Transportation Commissioners Mike Tagert, Dick Hall and Tom King. Those three and the MDOT executive director make up the transportation commission. “Regardless of the goods that come across the docks of our ports, these grants will help make needed improvements that will continue to support local economic growth and development.”
