Governor Bryant Appoints Justin Cobb as Circuit Court Judge for 10th Circuit Court District

JACKSON—Gov. Phil Bryant has appointed Justin M. Cobb of Meridian, Miss., as circuit court judge for the 10th Circuit Court District. Cobb’s appointment is effective July 1, 2015. The 10th Circuit Court District includes Clarke, Kemper, Lauderdale and Wayne counties.

A vacancy will occur when Judge Robert Bailey, who has served as circuit court judge for the 10th Circuit Court District since 1988, retires effective June 30, 2015.

“I thank Judge Bailey for his 27 years of service and appreciate his dedication to the people of his district. I wish him well in his retirement,” Gov. Bryant said.

Cobb was elected Lauderdale County Attorney in 2003 and was reelected in 2007, 2011 and 2015. He has also worked in private practice as a partner at Cobb Law Firm, P.A. in Meridian, Miss.

“Justin is a talented attorney and prosecutor, and his years of legal experience will benefit the people of east Mississippi,” Gov. Bryant said. “He is a leader in his community, and I believe he will serve with honor and integrity.”

Cobb has served as both president and vice president of the Lauderdale County Bar Association and as president of the association’s Young Lawyers Division. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Mississippi State University and earned his juris doctorate degree from the University of Mississippi School of Law.

Cobb is an active member of his community and serves as a youth baseball coach. He is a member of the Downtown Optimist Club and served on the board of the Boys and Girls Club of East Mississippi. He is a deacon at First Baptist Church of Meridian.

“I am honored and thankful to Gov. Bryant for appointing me to this position,” Cobb said. “I look forward to serving in this capacity and continuing to work for the people of east Mississippi.”

Cobb and his wife Holli have two sons, Houston and Witten.
