Dickie Scruggs placed on home confinement
Disbarred Mississippi attorney Richard “Dickie” Scruggs is back at home in Oxford.
Bureau of Prisons spokesman Chris Burke says Scruggs was released to home confinement on March 20. He says the expectation is the Scruggs remain on home confinement until his release date after serving time in a federal prison in Montgomery, Ala., for a judicial corruption conviction.

Former attorney Dickie Scruggs moves to halfway house
The halfway house is intended to ease Scruggs’ transition back into society ahead of his Sept. 14 release date. Scruggs pleaded guilty in 2008 to attempting to bribe a judge in North Mississippi, then in 2009 to improperly influencing a Hinds County judge. He has finished his time in the North Mississippi case and is serving out the remaining months of the later sentence.
