NUNNELEE COMMITTEE ASSIGNMENTS REFLECTIVE OF NORTH MISSISSIPPI

Washington, D.C. – The House Committee on Appropriations announced that Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) will continue to serve as the Vice Chairman of the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee and on the Agriculture and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittees. Congressman Nunnelee will also continue to serve as a House Budget Committee appointee.

“I came to Washington to change the culture from ‘spend and expand’ to ‘reduce and improve.’ Serving on the appropriations committee allows me to achieve that goal with a direct role in oversight and spending decisions. Chairman Rogers has put together a great team and I am thankful for the opportunity to continue to work with him to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.

“As a Budget Committee appointee, it has been a privilege working with the budget expertise of Chairman Ryan. I look forward to working with him again, drafting a fiscally responsible budget not only for today, but that outlines an achievable plan of long term fiscal sustainability for our children and grandchildren.

“Through the budget and appropriations process, we have recently been successful in reducing spending to below fiscal year 2008 levels. For fiscal year 2015, I look forward to continuing this momentum, passing a budget and bringing all 12 appropriations bills to the House floor for passage.”

Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee. This is his second term.
