Job creation up in Mississippi

Job creation up in Mississippi

2013 was a banner year for job creation and investment in Mississippi, with more than double the jobs generated in the state last year than in 2012.

According to numbers provided by Mississippi Development Authority, 2013 saw 6,265 new jobs added and more than $1.03 billion in new investment. Contrast that to 2012, when state-assisted projects accounted for 2,664 new jobs and approximately $4.5 million in new investment.

Gov. Phil Bryant said he has focused on improving Mississippi’s economy since taking office in January 2012.

“That includes building a pro-business environment, attracting new investments and working to grow existing businesses,” Bryant said in a news release. “Our hard work is paying off.
