NUNNELEE: TREAT ALL AMERICANS FAIRLYWASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) released a statement regarding passage of the latest continuing resolution which keeps the government open, delays the individual mandate for one year, and ends the Congressional and Executive Branch exemption from the Affordable Care Act:

“President Obama has already granted big business a one-year delay from Obamacare; unions have received over 1,100 waivers from the law. Fairness demands small businesses, families, and indivduals also be spared. Harry Reid wants a shutdown so he can blame the Republicans, and President Obama said today ‘he should not have to offer anything.’ That is is not how government works. The Democrats who control the Senate should come to the table and work with us in a spirit of cooperation to keep the government open and treat all Americans fairly.”

The continuing resolution passed with bipartisan support, 228-201.

Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee. This is his second term.
