Speaker of the House Philip Gunn appointed Joel Bomgar, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Bomgar Corporation, to the State Board of Education in an at-large position beginning July 1, 2013, and ending June 30, 2022, pending Senate confirmation. The Speaker is allotted two appointments to the State Board of Education.
“Bomgar is a logical choice for this appointment,” said Speaker Gunn. “He is a successful entrepreneur who has demonstrated he is capable of wearing many hats. His enthusiasm for improving Mississippi’s public education system should be noted. He is a Christian man who wants the best for the children of Mississippi.”
Bomgar Corporation, founded in 2003, provides remote technical support to users without them having to leave their desks. Bomgar has led his company to acquire more than 6,500 customers and increase revenues by more than 500 percent.
In addition to his passion for technology, Bomgar is also fervent about improving Mississippi’s public school system. He leads a group of 22 businesspeople that hope to improve Mississippi’s education system. Better Education for Mississippi strives to instill positive changes in Mississippi’s public school system.
