Group of 15 Mississippi senators seeking to form ‘conservative coalition’ in Jackson

A group of 15 Mississippi senators, many of whom have seen their roles reduced by Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves after supporting Reeves’ opponent Billy Hewes in the last election, have been meeting in Jackson to form a “conservative coalition,” according to a column in the Clarion-Ledger.
The group’s goal is “working within the Senate structure of leadership, but at the same time making sure the will of the people is allowed to flourish and reaffirm the legislative process.”

The 15 senators make up about half of the Republicans in the Senate and about a third of the chamber. The story did not identify any of the senators in the group.
