March date set for special election
Gov. Phil Bryant today issued a Writ of Election setting March 26, 2013, as the special election date to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Rep. Joe C. Gardner.
The qualifying deadline for candidates is Feb. 25, 2013.
If no candidate receives a majority of votes cast in the special election, a runoff election will be held April 16, 2013.
