Jackson Water refuses payment from cancer patient who wouldn’t remove hat

Put that checkbook away, hat-wearing Jackson water customer. Your money’s no good here.

Jacqueline Gray, a Jackson resident, this week complained to the City Council that city employees refused to accept her water payment because she wouldn’t take off her hat inside the city bill collection office.

Indeed, the customer service office at the Metrocenter mall has a strict policy: no hats, no hoods or no service.

By the time her payment was refused Gray had already explained to a security guard why she didn’t want to take her hat off — she’s a cancer patient, and had lost her hair to chemotherapy.
