Kangaroo boxing match in Oxford nixed
A planned kangaroo versus human boxing match at an Oxford circus has been scrapped.
Oxford Police Chief Joey East said the marsupial, also known as Rocky, won’t be putting on the boxing gloves when he visits with the Star Family Circus Feb. 13.
“We have spoken with the owners and managers,” said East. “There will be no kangaroo boxing match of any kind.”
More than 1,600 online petitioners had protested the match, calling it animal cruelty.
