NUNNELEE APPOINTED TO BUDGET COMMITTEE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In addition to his duties on the House Appropriations Committee, Congressman Alan Nunnelee (R-Miss.) has been appointed to the House Budget Committee.

“I’m happy to welcome Congressman Nunnelee to the House Budget Committee,” said Chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.). “Alan is an effective voice for conservative principles, and I look forward to working with him as we craft a budget that will get our spending under control and grow our economy.”

“Out of control spending is choking our economy and leaving an unfair burden of debt to our children and grandchildren. Serving on both Appropriations and Budget allows me to work on the whole range of spending issues, including entitlement reform. Chairman Ryan’s expertise on budget issues is second to none, and I’m excited by the chance to work more closely with him,” Nunnelee said. “I also want to thank Chairman Rogers for choosing me for this responsibility and look forward to continuing to work with him to ensure taxpayer dollars are spent responsibly.”

“I congratulate Congressman Nunnelee on his appointment to the Budget Committee. His experience as an appropriator and his shrewd understanding of the need for responsible budget decisions will be of service to the Budget Committee, and to the nation, as the House works to reduce spending and shrink our deficits,” said Appropriations Chairman Hal Rogers (R-Ky.).

Congressman Nunnelee will also serve as Vice Chairman of the Energy and Water Appropriations Subcommittee as well continuing to serve on the Agriculture and Military Construction and Veterans Affairs Appropriations Subcommittees.

Congressman Alan Nunnelee represents Mississippi’s First Congressional District. He serves on the House Appropriations Committee and the House Budget Committee. This is his second term.
