Miss. lawmakers: Carefully weigh new gun-control legislation
WASHINGTON — Mississippi lawmakers are urging colleagues to be cautious in considering new gun-control measures, even as President Barack Obama pushes for fast action.
Republican Sen. Roger Wicker called last week’s mass shooting at an elementary school in Newtown, Conn., an “unspeakable tragedy.”
“As we look for solutions to prevent future attacks, legislative proposals should be reviewed for their practical impacts and unintended consequences,” Wicker said in a statement.
