Waller outspending Banks in state supreme court race
With three days to go before Tuesday’s election, Chief Justice Bill Waller Jr. has raised and spent almost a half million dollars in his campaign to keep the seat he has occupied for almost 15 years on the state Supreme Court.
Waller’s campaign has raised $470,017 and spent $461,832, according to the Oct. 30 campaign finance report filed with the Secretary of State’s office.
Also, in two other state Supreme Court races, more than $400,000 has been raised by at least one of the candidates for a position on the nine-member court.
In the central district race that includes Jackson, Waller’s contributions and spending far outdistance his opponent, Earle Banks, who has received $111,677 and spent $88,527.
