IHL holds USM campus listening sessions

The state College Board held listening sessions Wednesday morning in the Thad Cochran Center at the University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus.

The sessions are part of the board’s search for a new president to replace President Martha Saunders, who left at the end of June.

Nine college board trustees, including the four-member board search committee, listened to various Southern Miss constituents discuss the traits they want to see in a new president.

Overarching themes expressed by faculty, staff, students and alumni alike included the consideration of a female or minority candidate, as well as the desire for a long-term president.

Board search committee chair Robin Robinson moderated the 30-minute listening sessions.
