Cooper-Stokes retains Jackson council seat
Given a third trip to the ballot box, Jackson’s Ward 3 residents elected the same woman they already put in office.
LaRita Cooper-Stokes apparently will keep her seat on the Jackson City Council, besting challenger Joyce Jackson in a third straight election, based on unofficial counts tallied Tuesday evening.
The unofficial margin – 163 votes – was eerily close to that of the Feb. 28 runoff, in which Cooper-Stokes beat Jackson by 156 votes.
