We pause from our usual political analysis and commentary to recognize this Easter weekend, a time filled with joy and hope for all mankind, no matter our differences.
When Jesus, hanging on the Roman cross, proclaimed, “Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit,” He made a way for us all to defeat the sting of death and enter His Heavenly kingdom.
It does seem odd to call the day Christ was crucified “Good Friday” but as horrible as it was, it is indeed good because it led to the resurrection on Easter Sunday. It is through the resurrection that each of us have the opportunity for salvation in Him, for a new life in Christ.
Luke 24 (NKJV) reminds us of that resurrection morning:
“Now upon the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came unto the sepulchre, bringing the spices which they had prepared, and certain others with them.
“And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre. And they entered in, and found not the body of the Lord Jesus.
“And it came to pass, as they were much perplexed thereabout, behold, two men stood by them in shining garments:
“And as they were afraid, and bowed down their faces to the earth, they said unto them, ‘Why seek ye the living among the dead? He is not here, but is risen.’
He is risen! And so we celebrate Easter thanking Him for His sacrifice that gives us life anew if we only believe and place our faith in Him.
Methodist minister Adam Hamilton says he’s ended his Easter sermons the same way for 20 years, saying, “People ask me, ‘Do you really believe this story of the Resurrection?’ And he says, “My answer is always the same, I not only believe it, I’m counting on it.”
I believe it and I’m counting on it, too.
May you and your family celebrate the gift of salvation Christ gave us all through the resurrection this Easter and may we all accept His gift and live our lives in the peace and joy only He can give.
Happy Easter from YallPolitics.
