Chuck Espy to resign house seat – run for mayor of Clarksdale in 2013
In an announcement made at the Mississippi Association of Educators meeting held at Clarksdale High School last night, District 25 Mississippi State Rep. Chuck Espy (Dem.) announced that he would be resigning his seat in the House after the current legislative session and concentrating his efforts on the next Clarksdale Mayoral campaign in 2013.
The CPR spoke with Chuck Espy on Friday morning following the announcement.
“I have been at the state capital since 1999 and I’ve enjoyed a fruitful career of positive success in District 26,” said Rep. Espy. “In light of things that have happened in Clarksdale, especially after Delta Wire closed down and I saw how many families were devastated by that, my heart went out to those who were forced to leave the city.
