JACKSON, Miss. — Texas Gov. Rick Perry is scheduled to make a stop in Mississippi on Thursday, but some said the GOP presidential candidate is not looking for votes.
The head of the Mississippi Republican Party said Perry’s visit is about money and making contacts, while others said Perry may be trying to court Gov. Haley Barbour’s support.
“I think it’s great. I mean, anytime you ever have presidential candidates coming to the state, it’s a good thing for Mississippi (because) the people get to see them. Obviously, they’re coming in to raise money,” said Miss. Republican Party Chairman Arnie Hederman.
