POLITICO’s Matt DoBias sends over this answer from Barbour — one of the most prominent establishment Republicans who’s neutral in the GOP primary — when he was asked about Perry’s ideas:
“I can’t tell you about the details, but is a flat tax good policy? Yes. It’s not the only good policy, but it certainly can be very good tax policy. Particularly if you eliminate a lot of deductions so that it increases … revenue.
“Spending less—that’s all we’ve been talking about—so I hope that I’ve gotten across to you that spending less money is a good policy.
