An email went out this morning from Ed Legrand, head of the Department of Mental Health and also member of the PERS Board of Trustees, regarding the PERS Study Commission on state email. Here’s what it said:

Like you I am concerned with the attacks on our Public Employees Retirement System. Retirees and dedicated state and local government workers deserve better.
A group of legislators from this part of the state are hosting a meeting next week to lay out all the facts about the ongoing effort to cut retirement benefits and what we have done to fight back.
I hope you’ll join us MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2011, at the NE MS Community College Student Union in Booneville. The doors open at 5:30 p.m. and we will begin sharply at 6:00 p.m. I hope you’ll come and hear about the latest proposals to change the retirement system and our plans to protect benefits.
Thank you.

This is clearly a misuse of state resources directly meant to attack Republicans… there’s no way around it.
