Pushing to the finish: Barbour still wielding power
Gov. Haley Barbour may be a “lame duck,” but that doesn’t mean he’s slowing down during his final months in office.
This fall, Barbour will set out on a series of speeches to talk about the state’s achievements during his eight years in office and the “things that are still left to do.”
“There clearly are things left to do – issues we have to deal with,” he said at a recent event. “Some of them are fairly complicated.”
Barbour, who could not seek re-election because of term limits, has not given specifics. His spokeswoman Laura Hipp said Friday more information will be given when plans for the speeches are finalized.
