Whatever the outcome in November may be, the race for Public Service Commissioner in the Northern District is shaping up, and more accurately, heating up. It’s one of the few competitive general election battles we will see among the 14 statewide and regional posts, and one of just two featuring an incumbent Democrat. Democrat Brandon Presley is seeking a second term.
Presley officially kicked off his campaign in his hometown of Nettleton earlier this week, while Republican Boyce Adams won a primary in August (against a candidate from Desoto county which certainly isn’t easy to do in a GOP primary). Adams is from Columbus which is a good thing for Republicans.
