Lawmakers called back to mull project incentives
State lawmakers are returning to the Capitol on Friday to consider incentives for at least one economic development project.
But Gov. Haley Barbour and other officials say they will remain mum until Wednesday on any specifics. At least one project is set, but officials want to wait to firm up a second project that also could be taken up.
“We don’t announce things when the details are still loose,” Barbour said Monday. “When we have the information finalized, we will give all of the information.”
Officials gave few clues Monday, declining to discuss areas of the state that could be affected, number of jobs created, industries involved or even the incentives being offered.
