YP – Former HD 10 Democrat candidate and Ole Miss prof Jordan Bankhead threatens to sue MS blogger

By: Magnolia Tribune - August 16, 2011

For those of you that might have missed it, Oxford attorney Jordan Bankhead ran as a Democrat for Mississippi House and lost. FireMcCoy did a piece on him over a month ago. In that piece, FireMcCoy used a picture and about 20 words of content from Bankhead’s law firm’s (yes, he’s a lawyer) website to talk about the background.

Well, apparently after the loss, Bankhead has some desire to clean up his google footprint because yesterday out of the blue came this email to FireMcCoy.

Subject: Copyright Infringement

Dear Sir,

Please remove the blog post at

http://firemccoy.com/2011/07/06/jordan-bankhead-a-california-liberal-in-conservative-mississippi-hd-10/

If you do not remove the blog post within 3 days I will file suit for copyright infringement as you have copied sections of my website at www.bankheadlaw.com.

Let me know if you have any questions.

FireMcCoy removed the picture from Bankhead’s website, which was completely innocuous, but left the content otherwise undisturbed. Then FireMcCoy did Bankhead one better.

FireMcCoy posted Bankhead’s email and their reply. It’s vital for both the Ole Miss administration and the legal communities to see how their colleague, Bankhead, is representing them.

Now, what is it about Oxford and frivilous legal action?

By the way, Jordan, if you’d like to sue YallPolitics, you can direct your emails to editor (at) magnoliatribune.com.
