Among the big names backing Hewes: Frank and Paul Bertucci of FEB Distributing Co., a beer distributor on the Coast, gave $5,000 each; former Attorney General Mike Moore, a Democrat from Pascagoula, contributed $1,000 through his law firm; former state lawmaker Charlie Ross of Brandon, who lost the lieutenant governor seat in the GOP primary four years ago, gave $1,000; and GOP political pundit Andy Taggart of Madison has contributed $500.
