MS Lt. Governor Phil Bryant does not expect House redistricting plan to be supported by Senate

By: Magnolia Tribune - March 8, 2011

STATEMENT FROM LT. GOVERNOR PHIL BRYANT ON REDISTRICTING

Today the Joint Reapportionment Committee released a plan that begins the process of redistricting in the Senate. Lt. Governor Bryant issued a statement addressing his serious concerns about the proposed plan:

Lt. Governor Phil Bryant said, “This is the beginning of the process. I continue to oppose the gerrymandered district within the Pine Belt area that collapses a Republican district only to create one controlled by Democrats. I am just as concerned with the House plan and do not expect to see it supported by the Mississippi Senate.”
