HARPER TAKES OATH FOR SECOND TERM IN U.S. HOUSE
WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Representative Gregg Harper (R–Miss.) took the Congressional Oath Of Office today to serve his second term in the House of Representatives. Speaker John Boehner of Ohio administered the oath after receiving the gavel to lead the new Republican-led House.
“I am eager to enact our governing agenda that focuses on creating jobs, reducing spending and slashing the size of the federal government,” said Harper, a Republican who represents the Third District of Mississippi. “Republicans will take swift action to turn America from the failed economic policies of the White House, to the conservative principles that promote prosperity through individual freedoms and liberties from the federal government.”
Harper has been named to the House Energy and Commerce Committee and will serve on the subcommittees on Environment and Economy, as well as Commerce, Manufacturing, and Trade. In addition, Boehner has chosen Harper to serve on the Committee on House Administration, a select committee that is appointed by the Speaker.
“My hope is to serve the State of Mississippi and our country with honor and integrity,” added Harper. “In my work in the U.S. House of Representatives, it is my desire to advocate true conservative values in the important tasks before us.”
