CL – State cuts eyed — MDOT method may be replicated
Mississippi paid nearly $15 million in overtime costs last year – much of that to the Mississippi Department of Corrections and the state Department of Mental Health, records show.
For the first half of this fiscal year, nearly $6 million has been paid across agencies.
The amount does not include any OT from universities, community colleges or school districts.
With cuts recommended for most of state government next year, some state lawmakers are looking for ways to replicate savings by mandating efficiency policies.
