Coast will be squeezed fiscally, politically
There are dark clouds gathering over the 2011 session of the Mississippi Legislature and the only silver lining seems to be that things could be worse.
Toward the end of a two-hour session on Thursday at the Sun Herald with 10 Coast legislators, Rep. John Read, R-Gautier, said while “I’m not gloom and dooming … the future scares me.”
The future, as Read and his legislative colleagues agreed, will be dominated by:
n Putting together a balanced budget with limited resources and seemingly unlimited requests for funding.
n Redrawing the boundaries of the 122 House and 52 Senate districts based on the results of the 2010 Census.
