Cop taking son away from crash scene prompts racial tensions in Tupelo
TUPELO – Some City Council members urged Mayor Jack Reed Jr. to publicize details of a Nov. 24 incident involving a policeman who allegedly tampered with an investigation of his son.
But Reed said he won’t release information about the incident until the Police Department finishes its internal investigation.
The conflict centers on a police officer who, upon hearing that his son crashed a vehicle into a building on Robert E. Lee Drive, arrived at the scene and took his son home.
