MSU never sent information regarding alleged phone conversations
“The SEC never received information from MSU about phone calls with the Newtons about pay for play,” SEC spokesman Charles Bloom said in an e-mail Thursday.
Bloom would not comment on whether information from any other phone conversations had been relayed to the SEC.
MSU acknowledged Wednesday that it passed along information about the recruitment of Newton to the SEC in January and provided more information to the league office in July. The SEC refused to comment on the content of the information MSU provided to the league.
