Gray skies
Dynamic Newton & Co. hand Rebels a third consecutive loss

Indeed, more than the prohibitive Heisman Trophy favorite mattered here Saturday night as Auburn (9-0, 6-0 SEC) continued its quest for a championship. And Ole Miss (3-5, 1-4) simply didn’t have an answer, losing its third straight game and entering November needing to win three of its last four games to become eligible for a third straight bowl.

On a night where the Rebels showed flashes of potency on offense, Auburn had much more. The Tigers collected 572 yards, passing the 500-yard mark for the fifth time this season. They came up one yard short of having two runners pass the 100-yard mark, and neither was named Newton. The Tigers were 9-of-13 on third down.
