Bengals coordinator calls Bobby Petrino gutless and a coward
Bengals defensive coordinator Mike Zimmer, who spent part of the 2007 NFL season as Bobby Petrino’s defensive coordinator in Atlanta, called his former boss “gutless” and “a coward,” according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
“He is a coward. Put that in quotes. He ruined a bunch of people’s lives, a bunch of people’s families, kids, because he didn’t have enough nuts to stay there and finish the job. That’s the truth,” Zimmer said.
Petrino infamously left the Atlanta Falcons after just 13 games with little warning for his players or fellow coaches. Zimmer was a part of that staff, serving in his first season as defensive coordinator.
