Chizik, Mullen enjoying high level of success

COLUMBIA — Hired the same week in December 2008, Gene Chizik and Dan Mullen were two highly intriguing pickups.

Chizik was met (literally) with ire after arriving at Auburn. Mullen was met (not quite as literally) with hope after arriving at Mississippi State.

And each has carved out an eyebrow-raising level of success in the time since, as the Western Division has raced past the East in the SEC’s balance of power.
