STARKVILLE — Mississippi State fans can breathe a sigh of relief today.
Their Bulldogs, in exile from the national spotlight for more than nine years, are back on the map after their 10-7 win over No. 22 Florida on Saturday.
Mississippi State (5-2, 2-2 Southeastern Conference) entered The Associated Press and USA Today polls – and the BCS rankings – at No. 24 on Sunday, ending a drought outside the rankings since Sept. 29, 2001.
During that time outside the polls, 10 different MSU teams watched on as all 11 of its SEC brethren appeared in the polls at some point during the nine years. Yes, even Vanderbilt made an appearance in 2008.
